RSS Verifying DB version while upgrade

In Reporting Server2005 Configuration, while verifying database version and
trying to upgrade it Getting Msg : "The DATABASE VERSION C.0.8.40 does not
match your reporting server installation. you must upgrade your reporting
services database.
Please help, can not move forward.

problem and solution:
I had the same problem.
It was caused by that I had installed reporting services after I had run
SP1 on SQL Server 2005.
Solved it by runing SQL Server 2005 SP1 again.

Now everything thing looks good BUT when I am trying to connect to the
report server by http://servername/reportserver OR
http://servername/reports getting Msg : " The feature: "Scale-out deployment"
is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.
(rsOperationNotSupported) (rsRPCError"
I have installed One report server one sql server standard edition all on
one machine, then why am I getting this msg, I know only Dev and Entp Edition
supports Scale-Out deployment how to resolve it, please help.

>|||Same problem here. I am trying to solve this issue since DAYS on the Italian
localized SQL 2005 Workgroup Edition of SQL 2005 on a SBS 2003 R2 PDC. Fresh
install, not upgrade.
I'm trying to install Reporting Services on the default db instance. The db
engine is now at 9.0.2153.
On the Report Server Configuration tool I'm on the "database setting" tab
(I'm translating everything from Italian, so labels could be literally
different).
I can connect to the server. I push the "New..." button. I create a db on
the default SQL instance. Credentials: Current user (running in the
Administrator context). DB Name: ReportServer. Language: either English or
Italian.
The DB gets built. I push the "Apply" button and a "Update the db"? message
appears. I click "OK". The status shows:
GREEN: Verification of the db edition: completed.
YELLOW TRIANGLE: Verification of the db version: "The DATABASE VERSION
C.0.8.40 does not match your reporting server installation. You must upgrade
your reporting services db".
YELLOW TRIANGLE: Creating the update script for the DB version C.0.8.40: No
update script available for this version of the db!

except the reporting services. That gives "error" and stayis on SP0!

RSS Text Data Mining

Somewhere in the literature surrounding SQL Server 2005 DM, I saw a reference to a project that collected and mined RSS data.

Does such a project exist?

Various people in the group (including myself) have played with such projects, but haven't published anything. (For one thing, all the RSS content is copywrited by the RSS provider, which makes it difficult). In any case, the methodology is fairly simple - use Integration Services to read the RSS feed and pump through the text mining transforms, and then use the results in data mining, OLAP, or reporting.

The specifics of the latter part depend on the problem you are trying to solve and the information you have.

For example, I created a package once (with an alpha version of SQL Server - it no longer works) that did the following:

Data Flow 1
1: Read from an rss feed
2: Ignore previously read items
3: Did term extraction to find the terms in the feed
4: Did a lookup to see if the terms were already found
5: Datestamped the new terms and added to the term dictionary

Data Flow 2
1: Read from the same rss feed
2: Ignore previously read items
3: Store rss item identifiers
4: Do term lookup to identify the terms in the feed items
5: Append the transactions (item id, term) in my transaction table

From this system I created cubes to analyze term trends, reports including when terms were first identified, mining models to cluster documents, etc.

using LIKE (or the more advanced indexing service features).
3. Use a 3rd party full-text search engine like Lucene.
4. Use something like XQuery or XPath to query the RSS files directly
but this again *might* (not sure since I haven't worked with either)
get slow when a number of users try to search.
Also, the RSS files I have on the web server will be updated every
hour or so.
So, I have the ideas but I'm not quite sure which one would the most
suitable and efficient. If anyone has ideas on implementing such a

You might want to shread the XML docs/RSS feeds and store them in a
relational database and FTI the columns of interest and query them there.
I would advise against storing them in the file system or storing them in
XML format in the image type columns. Although Indexing Services and SQL FTS
does support querying XML/RSS feeds using the XML iFilter, you can't index
properties using SQL Server FTS, and Indexing Services support isn't much
better.
You could index the XML/RSS as text but there are some problems indexing the
XML tags.
XQuery FTS support will be supplied when SQL 2005 which will RTM next year.

field. e.g.
create table table1 (i int, x xml)
Now you can directly xquery the xml field like,

far is that SQL Server 2000 would require 'shredding' the data
and putting it into the database where the server could be used
to return results all other current options not being performance
friendly.

documentation for a schema that documents a design for storing RSS and/or
ATOM feeds.

(I would like insert my reports into a web application (Jahia) )

RSS feed with ISO8859 encoding

We have an XML source that reads an RSS feed. The document uses ISO8859 encoding, which causes an error in SSIS: "System does not support ISO8859 encoding". Is there any way around this?

|||AFAIK, there is no such thing as ISO-8859 encoding.
There are several very different encodings defined by ISO 8859
standard, e.g. iso-8859-1 (Latin 1), iso-8859-5 (Cyrillic), etc.
I believe any of these are supported.

I could not check the task now, but tested that
Encoding.GetEncoding("ISO-8859-1");
works fine, while
Encoding.GetEncoding("ISO8859");
throws an error "'ISO8859' is not a supported encoding name".

So the "ISO8859" without suffix is not a legal encoding,
the feed is not correct.|||You were all right. I had the code ISO8859-15 in my feed, but as described the code is not supported. I didn't knew the importance of the "-xx" at the end so I did not post my extension "-15".

After some mails with the developer of the feed I was able to get the RSS feed now with "UTF-8" encoding - This works perfect!

no edits / adds / deletes ?

By default any created user and mapped user account is only member of the database role public. This role by default can′t Select, Insert, Update nor Delete anything. If you grant only Select to the user, he will only be able to select the data and will get an error message if he wants to do anything beyond that. (But don′t forget that the user will automatically inherit the permissions from every group he is a member of, including the public role)
